Proton International London announces new 5 Fraction Proton Therapy option for Prostate Cancer Patients launching early 2026

Proton beam therapy treatment planning for prostate cancer

From early 2026, Proton International London will introduce a new, accelerated 5 fraction proton beam therapy treatment pathway for prostate cancer. This addition broadens the centre’s offering, giving men access to a faster and more convenient option using this highly targeted form of radiotherapy.

A shorter, more convenient option for private prostate cancer treatment

Traditional radiotherapy and many proton therapy schedules require daily treatment over 4–7 weeks. For men who are working, caring for family or travelling to London specifically for treatment, this can be challenging.

The new 5 fraction approach condenses treatment into just two weeks, enabling patients to complete therapy more quickly while still benefiting from proton beam therapy’s precision and targeted delivery.

This can offer:

  • A shorter stay in London
  • Fewer hospital visits
  • Less disruption to daily life
  • A faster overall treatment journey

The shorter schedule condenses what is normally delivered over several weeks into a smaller number of carefully planned sessions. For men who are suitable, this allows treatment to be completed more quickly while maintaining the precision and effectiveness of proton beam therapy.

Part of a broader range of personalised treatment options

From early 2026, Proton International London will offer tailored prostate cancer treatment pathways ranging from 5 to 38 sessions, taking between 2 and 8 weeks in total. The appropriate schedule will depend on clinical suitability, individual preference and consultant assessment.

This ensures that men can access the treatment plan that best meets their needs, from traditional schedules to accelerated pathways, all delivered with the same high standard of care and technical precision.

Precision remains at the heart of treatment

Regardless of the number of sessions, every patient benefits from proton beam therapy’s defining advantage: its ability to deliver highly targeted radiation while helping to reduce exposure to surrounding healthy tissues, including the bladder and rectum.

All treatment at Proton International London is consultant-led, supported by a dedicated team which guides patients through approval, logistics, accommodation and insurance arrangements.

Tina Dunworth, COO, Proton International London, said:

“We are very pleased to offer this new 5-fraction private cancer treatment pathway to men with prostate cancer. For many patients, completing treatment in just two weeks can make a meaningful difference to how easily they can access care, particularly those travelling from outside London or overseas.

What remains unchanged is our commitment to delivering the highest standard of proton beam therapy, highly targeted, consultant-led and tailored to the needs of each individual. This new option allows us to broaden choice while maintaining the quality, precision and support our patients expect.”
