We are proud to announce that Proton International London has participated in a clinically led trade mission hosted by Healthcare London, welcoming a senior delegation from the Uzbek Medical Tourism Association to explore collaboration and referral pathways for highly specialised and complex care.
Healthcare London brings together private healthcare providers and NHS teaching hospitals across the UK capital, with a shared aim of enabling international patients to access London’s centres of clinical excellence. The visit reflects growing international interest in London’s advanced treatment pathways and research-led approach to complex care.
The Medical Tourism Association of the Republic of Uzbekistan operates under the country’s Ministry of Health and is responsible for coordinating international healthcare partnerships. Its role includes ensuring that overseas care accessed by Uzbek citizens is appropriately accredited, regulated and clinically safe.

Supported by the UK Government’s Department for Business and Trade and the Independent Health Providers Network (IHPN), the programme brought together senior clinicians and healthcare leaders from across London to share expertise, explore specialist referral pathways, and discuss models of international collaboration in complex care.
Across the multi-day programme, delegates were introduced to London’s breadth of specialist services, including comprehensive oncology treatment pathways. At Proton International London, discussions centred on the role of proton beam therapy within modern cancer care, particularly for complex cases where precision, organ preservation, and long-term quality of life are key clinical considerations.
Proton therapy was presented within the context of multidisciplinary oncology pathways, emphasising that advanced technology must be paired with experienced clinical judgement, careful patient selection, and cross-border collaboration to deliver optimal patient outcomes.
Their visit represents an important step in strengthening collaboration between London-based providers and the Uzbek Medical Tourism Association, with shared ambitions to expand access to advanced treatments, support knowledge exchange, and build sustainable international partnerships.
Uktam Rustamov, Head of the International Relationship Department at the Medical Tourism Association, said:
“The main purpose of our visit to London is to build strong cooperation with the city’s healthcare providers. We hope to develop a meaningful partnership between our two countries in both healthcare and public health. Our focus is on innovative and highly complex surgical and medical procedures that are not currently available in our country. The hospitals we have engaged with are exceptionally qualified. It is exciting to learn about the cutting-edge work they are doing and the services they are able to provide.”
David Sheppard, Deputy Head of Healthcare at the Department for Business and Trade, added:
“We’ve been working very closely with Healthcare London to promote London as a destination for international private patients. This visit forms part of our broader, growing healthcare relationship with Uzbekistan, where we’re working with the government and the private sector to help build capability in areas such as nurse training, medical schools and private healthcare.”
Tina Dunworth, Chief Operating Officer for Proton International London, also added:
“We were very proud to support this clinically led visit and to take part in discussions focused on the delivery of highly specialised oncology care for patients from Uzbekistan. At Proton International London, we see international collaboration as key to advancing complex cancer treatment and improving access.”
David Hare, CEO of the Independent Health Providers Network, concluded:
“London is home to some of the most advanced clinical expertise and healthcare infrastructure in the world. We were delighted to support this important trade mission, which highlights the UK’s commitment to international collaboration and to ensuring patients globally can benefit from the very best specialist care. Strengthening these partnerships not only enhances clinical outcomes but also drives innovation and shared learning across borders.”
For Proton International London, participation in the mission underscores its commitment to international collaboration, clinical excellence and responsible innovation in proton beam therapy, ensuring that patients referred from overseas are supported by transparent pathways, rigorous governance and specialist expertise at every stage of care.
